What are the reasons for Breast Augmentation surgery?
Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries in the world among women.Tens of thousands of women apply for this surgery every year. Many women think their breasts are too small and their sizes or shapes are uneven or unattractive. Some women have breasts that have not fully grown or have significantly lost shape after pregnancy or after weight change or aging. This surgery will restore confidence in them. Synthetic prostheses (implants)are used to increase the size and shape of the breasts.
The surgical procedure of Breast Augmentation( Breast Enhancement ):
The surgery is performed for one to two hours under general anesthesia or less commonly under local anesthesia . The goal is to beautify the breasts in the minimal invasion way. Before surgery, it is best to consult with your specialist about different incision sites, size and the type of Implants which suits you the best .
Breast Implants Types:
1- Silicone gel-filled implants
2- Saline-filled implants
Although each of these prostheses has its advantages and disadvantages, most people prefer to use silicone gel prostheses.
Types of breast implants in terms of shape:
1- Teardrop implants (also known as shaped or anatomic implants)
2- Round implants
Breast augmentation incision sites
In breast augmentation surgery, the position of the implants is directly related to the incision. These cuts should be made in the way that the least scar will be left in the future and as far as possible it should not be visible. The size of cuts in saline implants is about 3 to 4 cm, whereas in silicone ones it will be 4 to 5 cm.
Trans-Umbilical incision:
This is a procedure that is performed only for specific individuals and for special occasions and can only be used in saline prostheses. This type of cutting is a very difficult method.
Trans-Axillary incision:
This method has many applicants because it does not occur on the incision but the problem with this method is that the prosthesis may be positioned higher than it should be.
Peri-Areolar incision :
This type of procedure is most suitable if you want to perform breast lift surgery at the same time as your breast implant surgery.
Infra -Mammary incision:
The most popular incision is to implant a prosthesis into the breast. This method is highly recommended for young women and can also be very comfortable for better access to this area.
These incisions are selected based on the type and shape of the breast implants, the degree of enlargement desired, the shape and structure of the individual breast, the skill of the surgeon and the patient's preference. You and your surgeon will discuss the incision before surgery and choose the best option for you.
Location of Breast implants
In general, two places can be used for implant prosthesis:
1- Under the breast tissue and above the sub-glandular muscle
2- Below the submuscular muscle
The placement of the implants depends on the type of prosthesis, the degree of enlargement, the quality and thickness of the skin and the underlying tissues, the specific structure of your breast and the surgical advice and it is decided before surgery.
Wound sutures and dressings
The wounds are sutured in several layers with absorbable long effect suture thread and sterile surgical adhesives are placed on it, and eventually ,the Pre-purchased medical bra is usually used.
